online marketing goals 2017

It’s January 8th 2017, for the past 5 weeks I’ve been tirelessly working on my goals for this year, as well as a plan of action and milestones to help me to achieve these goals. It’s not been an easy task, and it’s not a task which I can complete as it will continue to change throughout the year. However, I do feel like I am now at the point to begin launching my plan of action and to start making headway for my goals of 2017.

Before we begin discussing the goals I have for 2017, I’d like to take a minute to review what I’ve achieved in 2016. I am not going to cover every goal I had jotted down for 2016, after reviewing them I admit that most were very rash decisions and not well thought out. However, one of my most important, serious goals for 2016 was to hit $10,000 per month in passive income generated from my affiliate websites. I’ve been very fortunate to achieve this goal, not only achieve it but to completely blow it out of the water.

Since July 2016 I’ve successfully surpassed $10,000 in monthly income and I feel very proud of my success. I’ve proven to myself that with persistence, anything is possible. For anyone who has just begun their passive income journey or for those who feel like they’re hitting a brick wall or even for those who are still chugging along. My advice to you is to keep going. If you really want this passive income lifestyle then you have no other option but to continue on the path you have begun.

I recently read this quote in a book I am reading (The One Thing) and it struck a chord with me and I think it might help some of you also.

Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek – Mario Andretti

If the goals you have set for 2017 seem outlandish and unrealistic, then remember what I’ve achieved in just 12 months.

December 2015

December 2016

Let me assure you, I am not the best, I don’t know everything, I make mistakes and I didn’t work 100 hours per week to achieve this. Also, if you can clearly see the earnings for December 25th 2016 you can also see I have bad days as well ;D

The goal I set at the beginning of last year, to hit $10,000 felt unachievable for me, I could hit a few thousand a month but to hit five figures felt as if it was impossible or only possible for a select, chosen few. Well, I can tell you now how wrong I was and to prove it I am going to be putting together a post on the blog with some solid advice from five figure Amazon earners, I am not a 1 in a million or even a 1 in a thousand. This Amazon Associates business isn’t rocket science, it simply takes months and months of persistence to keep going through the many failures and sleepless nights.

OK, so with that out of the way let’s jump into 2017.

Below you will find an overview of my main goals for 2017. Behind the scenes, I have segmented these goals by the website and then created milestones for each quarter of the year. As well as this I’ve created individual revenue goals for each website and in Excel created a monthly revenue breakdown which then pulls together into one sheet. This will allow me to see if I am on track to hit my 2017 revenue goal. It will also allow me to see which websites are performing well and which are slacking, so I can then make strategic decisions as to which websites I invest my time and money.

Business goals for 2017

The two main goals I have for 2017 are as follows, these are my top level goals and as mentioned above I break these down into website specific goals along with a plan of action and milestones.

  • To hit £1,000,000 in revenue (website income & sales)
  • To hit £100,000 in monthly revenue (digital income only)
  • To hit £3,000,000 in total asset value (digital and real estate)

These are huge goals and whilst they remind me of the day I set the $10,000 monthly revenue goal there has definitely been a mind shift. I now look at the goal and know with 100% certainty that it is achievable. However, it all comes down to the action plan, the time and money that I invest and the progress that I make throughout the year. Remember, persistence is the key.

The first goal is a goal I’ve had since as long as I can remember, originally I wanted to achieve that goal by the time I hit 21. However, I was nothing but a naive teenager who had big ambitions and goals but didn’t have a strategy or a clear path to succeed. Whereas now I know what I am doing and I know how I will achieve it. The goal is now to become a millionaire by the time I am 30. However, I think I might be able to fast track this in 2017 & 2018 and that goal is a sure way of making a dent in that lifelong goal I have set.

Authority Site Project Goals for 2017

I won’t be publishing all of my site level goals however since I am already publishing my journey for the Authority Site Project I may as well add the goals I have for the site in 2017.

  • To hit £28,000 in monthly revenue
  • To hit 290,000 organic monthly visitors

If you read my December update, you will know that I hit £3,002.33 in commission (not deducting costs) and I want to basically multiply that by 10 by December 2017. Not only this, but I also want to take my organic visitor count from 4,025 to 290,000 in just 12 months.

These are some hefty goals, but again they are achievable with hard work. Ultimately it will come down to the success I have with SEO throughout the year and the links I build to the website.

Personal goals for 2017

  • Pass full motorbike test
  • Pass driving test
  • Purchase property

A few attainable goals for my personal life in 2017, I am not going to add things like learn Korean or add xx amount of muscle. Why? Well, those types of goals are secondary for me, this year is all about hitting my business goals.

Income Reports in 2017

I will also begin publishing income reports from January 2017 onwards, these will break down my online earnings. I’ve decided to do these for two reasons:

  • Accountability – by publicly stating my monthly earnings I will feel inclined to ensure that I achieve bigger and better results each and every month. Secondly, motivational –
  • Motivational – I love reading income reports, always have done and always will do, I find them massively motivating and help me to realise that these income goals that we set are achievable.
